R2178 REMINGTON MODEL 1878 10 GAUGE
Item # R2178
Scarce gun being a grade 4. Early serial number of 618. 32" Damascus bbls with the pretty Damascus pattern that Remington had. These bbls have aged to a beautiful plum/brown patina with no dents. Inside the bores are quite good. Bright and shiny with very light pitting in front of the chamber area. Lock up is nice and solid. The frame has the grade 4 engraving which is all present. Metal is smooth. Still some case colors but mostly an antique grey patina. Stock is exceptional also. Nice fitting to the frame, even around the sidelocks with no losses. Stocks are just a bit too good. I think a master re-cut the checkering which is nice and sharp. A beautiful job as is the finish. These old Remingtons were beautiful guns and this one is a great example!
Antique $ 2,175.
R2177 SCARCE 1889 REMINGTON SXS 16 GAUGE
Item # R2177

The frame is mostly a grey color but still has ample case colors remaining. Wood condition matches the rest of the gun as being VG. No cracks or losses. Orig Remington logo buttplate which, like the stock, is exceptional. These old Remingtons with the C shaped hammers certainly are good looking double bbls!
Antique $ 2,250.
MSG813 EARLY PARKER HAMMER 10 GAUGE
Item # MSG813
This is a 10ga with 30" Damascus bbls. It has the very pretty Damascus pattern that Parker had. Nice markings on the bbl rib "Parker Bros". Inside the bores are VG+. Bright and shiny with just some very light pitting in the chamber area. Lock up is nice and solid. This Parker has the early fishtail release lever. There is a small shield down from the upper tang with very small letters "WH" and not quite readable date. One very light hairline crack coming off the upper tang. Otherwise the wood is good fitting and all there. The forearm is in about the same cond with just a couple of very light slivers missing. Strangely this has British proof marks. Evidently some wealthy American hunter brought it there and left it? A good looking old Parker that is fairly priced.
Antique $ 850.
MSG807 WARDS WESTERN FIELD 410 SxS

MSG810 L C SMITH IDEAL GRADE L C SMITH IDEAL GRADE
Item # MSG810
Several nice features on this gun. It is a single select trigger. Also is an ejector gun and appears that it was set up for trap with a bit straighter stock than normal. This was someone's baby because on the trigger guard is the name Victor C. Snyder inlaid in gold. Another marking on the bottom on the frame is "Hunter One Trigger" which signifies the single trigger on this LC Smith. Markings on the bbl are "L C Smith Ideal Grade" and the standard "Hunter Arms Company". The Ideal Grade was a nice shotgun with more adornments. This one is in VG shape with 90%+ blue that is thinning slightly in spots. One light spot of corrosion on the left side near the breech. The center rib has both the front bead and small center bead. Nice smooth metal. Receiver and side plates are mostly silver with some case colors showing in protected areas. Buttstock has numerous handling marks and a couple of light dings but is nice fitting to the sidelocks and frame. There is a leather covered Hawkins pad on it. L C Smith did use different types of pads with Hawkin being one of them. Is this factory original? This would be a good user gun. Still has enough condition to be a collectable gun and has enough use to be used some more.
Modern $ 1,375.

Also has the standard ivory front and mid bead. Inside it is just a bright and shiny as the outside. Nice solid lock up that L C Smiths are noted for. Wood is exceptional on this gun. Approximately a 5 Bore. Very pretty gun with deluxe stock in VG condition. The furniture is a mixture of iron and brass. The forearm tip being brass and the trigger guard being iron along with the lock plate, buttplate and a couple other parts. Inset gold medallion says "Daniel Webster." Setup more like a standard percussion shotgun, although it is big bore! Approximately a 1" bore. Definitely sets it aside from your average shotgun. The trigger guard is of the square front variety. Rather unique. Dimension wise, this gun makes a little more sense than some of them. The bbl is a reasonable 34" and weight is approximately 10-3/4 pounds. It is a half stock and has a cleaning rod, dark brownish metal that has faded and a very pretty deluxe stock with a cheek piece. Top of the bbl has a rather unique spear shaped flat making sort of a rib for about 1/3 of the bbl length. Action is nice and solid. Daniel Webster must have been a hell of a man to pull the trigger on this baby!

Interesting that right side is marked 'Spencer Arm Co.' (without patent date). Engraving appears to be done by the New York master Louis D. Nimschke-quite elaborate. SN 1 is present on numerous parts throughout the gun. Of further interest is that the barrel bears the Model 1886 type address, the cond matches the rest of the gun perfectly and it appears no alterations have been made. VG walnut, short non-checkered pump handle, checkering on pistol grip somewhat worn; otherwise VG+ walnut. The carrier's forward area is of a different design than seen on other 1884's, etc.; the slot is very short. VG shiny bore with a few pits. Interesting Spencer; possibly one-of-a-kind.
