The wood is also exceptional. As stated, this is a deluxe and has beautiful deluxe wood. Equipped with rifle style butt. Wood is nice fitting with orig varnish. Now more about Sheriff Hodge. Engraved on the left side of the gun is " Sheriff Bob Hodge Seattle 1910". A little research on Sheriff Hodge shows that he was quite a controversial figure in early politics in the Seattle area. He had aspirations to be a politician and made a lot of enemies. He was a very colorful figure who was arrested once and released almost immediately. He sought re-election and won. The people loved him but opposing politicians didn't. This gun is a wonderful condition gun that would add to any collection and has an interesting history.

RARE GOLD PLATED WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 RIFLE

Original plain Walnut stock is nicely figured with almost all original varnish remaining. Overall gun is guaranteed original and untouched. Very unusual to see a standard configuration with gold gilded frame.

Receiver is also a brown/grey color. Metal is smooth and clean. VG bbl markings. Cal 38-55. Nice early gun with serial number 3530. Wood is nice fitting and good cond. Pictured on page 266 of the Winchester Engraving Book by R.L. Wilson. This gun is accompanied with a Factory Letter of Authenticity from the Buffalo Bill Historical Society. This has numerous features such as a 24" half oct bbl, full matted, plain trigger and it states "trigger milled", fancy pistol grip carved and checkered style F wood, Lyman receiver sight, no rear sight , customer supplied front sight with a gold bead. Engraved $10 style number 6 engraved scrolls on the bbl, inlaid gold bands at the breech and tip. Gun was received in the warehouse on January 28, 1908. Shipped on the 29th of January. Returned and repaired on February 27th of 1913. At that time I believe they installed a flat top sporting rear sight because at this time there is a rear bbl sight and I believe the factory did it. A Sensational gun!! Cal 32 special with an excl bore. Orig sights. Pistol grip carved wood in excl cond with rifle style buttplate. Receiver is engraved in style #6 with a sheep on one side and a buck on the other in an oval. Quite elaborate engraving with gold bands on the bbl at the breech and the forend, as well as scroll engraving on the breech end of the bbl, forend cap and buttplate.
