MSG765 CASED HENRY AITKINS 12 GAUGE 2-GUN SET OF SHOTGUNS ORDERED BY J.P. MORGAN

Both guns are of the best quality. Marked on both bbls and the receiver "Henry Aitkins made by Purdy". Purdy must have been under contract to build these. Both guns in excellent condition. Both guns are 30" with most blue thinning some towards the muzzle. Automatic ejectors. Single trigger. Case is in good condition with the Henry Aitkins label. Loading instructions on the inside. MR1039 ENGRAVED CHAPUIS EXPRESS DOUBLE RIFLE COMBO GUN
Item # MR1039
This is a nice package. The rifle is 7X65R cal. Also comes with a set of 20 ga shotgun bbls. These are all included in a case. The engraving on the frame is beautiful. It is well executed with some deep relief engraving on the bolsters and some very fine scroll on the sides and bottom. This was evidently a special order gun for someone since on the trigger guard in a small oval is the initials "APA". Also on the pistol grip cap is an Elk escutcheon. High quality wood that appears to be French Walnut which would make sense since these where made in France. A nice slim trim double rifle in a very good caliber. Double rifles are used a lot and are noted to be natural pointers and have a long history of use in places like Africa. The shotgun bbls are 20 ga for 3" magnums. 26-3/4" bbl. Choked improved cylinder and modified. Information that comes with this rifle is out of the Gun Digest 1980. These guns were made in the late 70's and into the 80's and were known for being low cost double rifles of high quality and very usable. When you consider that many double rifles cost 5-10 times this amount it surely is a value. Comes in a nice fitted case with 2 sets of wood and in near mint condition. If you want a good double rifle without spending $50,000 this would be a good option for you.
Modern $ 9,500.
MSG849 FLINTLOCK BLUNDERBUSS
Item # MSG849
I've seen a lot of Blunderbusses but nothing quite like this one. Proof marks indicate that it is Italian built. The name on the lock plate sounds French.? A very unique feature and the part I have never seen before is that it has a folding stock. Just past the trigger guard is a hinge. On top there would be a button, which is missing, that you would depress and you would be able to fold the buttstock section forward. What advantage?? Metal has been cleaned with some rust appearing, mostly on the bbl. Lock plate is pretty bright silver color. The muzzle flare is just under 2" and in an oval shape. Looking at it from the muzzle end it looks like an old hot roder's trick from the 60's or 70's where you would flatten the end of your exhaust on your 55 Chevy. Actual inside bore diameter would be about a 20 bore. Bbl is 18" and overall the gun is about 30". This is a flintlock and the action and frizzen work. Mechanically it is relatively sound. All furniture is brass and in good cond. The wood is also not too bad. A chip missing on the right side towards the front. A few cracks but overall sound. If you are into old, weird and cool this would be a great gun for you!
Antique $ 2,275.
MSG838 FLINTLOCK BLUNDERBUSS
Item # MSG838
More than likely British but I do not see any identification on the gun. Bore diameter is in the neighborhood of 3/4" and flares out to a 2" bell. Bbl length is 21-1/2". The bbl is a dark aged brown patina. Lockplate is a grey/brown color. The front lock frizzen is bent but still does work as does the hammer and trigger. The back portion of the stock is in pretty good condition. Looks like some sort of finish has been put on it at some point in it's long life. Front has numerous cracks as does the forearm. The ram rod holder doesn't fit to well and looks like it has been glued in. Ram rod is missing. Blunderbusses are real eye catchers!
Antique $ 1,375.
MSG804 GERMAN HAMMERLESS DRILLING
Item # MSG804
This is what you would call a German Guild. Quite a few shotguns in the early days were built by guilds which were different gun makers that manufactured different parts. They did not have the capabilities or the space to manufacture a complete gun. This is a beautiful gun with the top bbls in 16 ga with 2-1/2" chambers. The bottom rifle bbl is a 9.3X72R. Both the 16 Ga. and the rifle caliber are still very popular in Europe. All bores are very nice. There is a light dent on the right hand bbl and also a slight bulge about 3/4" from the muzzle. Nearly all blue remains on the bbls and the frame has quite vivid case colors remaining. Workmanship is excellent on this gun. Wood fits nicely to the frame. Buttstock is in VG condition with some use marks and a chip out at the toe. Nice quality gun.
Modern $ 1,450.
MSG803 CORTONA PRESTIGE O/U 28 GAUGE
Item # MSG803
This shotgun is a recent manufacture and on the bottom is the Cortona Prestige marking. Also on the bottom is "Marcheno made in Italy". On the bbl is marked "Kalispell-Cusick, WA-Made in Italy". What does all this mean? I don't rightly know. Evidently made in Italy. Supposedly they were made by Rizzini for the Kalispell Indian Tribe of Idaho. This is a beautiful shotgun in "as new" condition. This a single select trigger o/u with bird and dog scenes in gold adorning the frame and trigger guard. The wood is beautiful European or English Walnut with fine figure. Another unique item is the buttplate which is made of wood and is affixed to the gun with a contrast in wood which is really appealing. On the buttplate is also the Cortona marking. Very graceful lines to this shotgun that only a 28 ga can accomplish. Nice light easy swinging shotgun that would be just perfect for upland birds. Also it has removable chokes. A high quality o/u.
Modern $ 2,175.

A nice old shotgun.
MSG772 CLASSIC EUROPEAN SxS SHOTGUN
Item # MSG772 -26-429
The Europeans preferred the 16 ga and that is what this one is chambered for. The chambered length is for the short 16 ga shells in 2 to 2-1/4" length. Markings on the bbl and frame is "Braunschweig". On the other bbl is marked "G.L. Rash". Beautiful fine relief engraving on the action with some gold intertwined in the leafing. Full coverage. On top is quite a bit of gold all the way from the bottom of the tang up through the top of the action. Another unique feature that the Europeans liked was the bone trigger guard. The metal is very nice condition on both the bbls and the frame with nearly all finish remaining. The bores are good but there is light pitting on the chamber area. Wood is some sort of fancy European walnut. There is a sling swivel on the buttstock. There evidently was one under the bbl that is no longer there. LOP is 13-3/4". This is a nice light gun that would be great for upland birds. If you want a unique good looking SxS this would be a fine gun.
Antique $ 3,250.

There is fancy engraving on the bbl and side insert plate. The stock also has unique old fashioned checkering. The wood is VG overall. Some shrinkage in places and a sliver missing at the muzzle. This gun has aged quite gracefully. The frontlock action and frizzen work well. Bore has not been cleaned in decades and could use a good cleaning. The trigger guard is a very long ornate affair. 12 ga 2-3/4" chambers. The steel bbls are 28". Both appear to be full choke. Frame is case colored with most colors remaining but somewhat dimming. Action is the greener style crossbolt. Most bbl blue remains. Nice bright shiny bores. A couple of something go through the stock at the pistol grip and towards the back of the boxlock. These are a couple of plugged holes. Not quite certain what they were for. There is no visible crack and the wood is in VG cond. The stock appears to have the checkering re-done and a coat of satin type oil applied. This gun is not overly heavy and feels like a natural pointer.
