MHG628 GUSTAVE YOUNG ENGRAVED SMITH & WESSON; Caliber 22. 3-1/2 inch barrel, carved ivory grips and gold inlays. This one comes in a relined case and is accompanied with two books, one by Roy Jinks “The History of Smith & Wesson” and the other by Frank M Sellers ” The Wm M Locke Collection”. There is a hand written letter dated 1980 from the previous owner attesting to the fact that he received this gun from Mr. William Locke in 1959. Gustave Young’s elaborate scroll engraving on the barrel flats, the cylinder, the grip straps, the breech and the silver plated frame. The right side of the grips are relief carved with the Mexican Eagle and snake. Overall condition is VG with sharp engraving and a good amount of finish remaining. The grips have two small replaced pieces at the frame junction. Nice little Collectors package!
