Caliber 45-70. Overall gun looks great; appears to have been used out in the frontier: it’s got a rawhide leather strap around the back of the buttstock to be used as a sling and a mark on the bbl where another rawhide strap had been attached. Overall metal is an aged plum brown coloration and has seen a lot of use with a fair amount of neglect but appears to be very much untouched; complete with double set triggers. No doubt this gun has seen alot of frontier use by buffalo hunters and such. Wood has been cleaned but is sound and solid with possibly an old age crack at the wrist. Very colorful, interesting, Western gun.
