JM1564 DELUXE ENGRAVED MARLIN 1895 TAKEDOWN RIFLE IN CALIBER 45-90; 26 inch octagon barrel chambered in 45-90 caliber with full length magazine. Bright shiny excellent bore. Sights include a German silver blade front and semi-buckhorn rear. Barrel and magazine tube retain about 98% of the original blue with the mag tube having a duller appearance and a couple of small blemishes on the left side. Sharp corners and good markings. The receiver, bolt, lever, hammer and takedown ring retain a good amount of vivid case color with some wear to the carry points. Nice smooth functioning action. Absolutely stunning factory engraved in the #5-3 pattern with the oak leaf and acorn engraving surrounding an oval with two moose on the left and a whitetail buck on the right. Checkered pistol grip stock and forearm are of beautifully figured flame grain Walnut and retain most of their original varnish. Some slight wear to the 24 line per inch checkering. There are finer 32 line per inch checkering in a shield on each side of the wrist and forearm that compliment this fine rifle. Blued crescent buttplate also has some delicate scroll and diamond checkering at the center but has faded some. This is just a truly stunning and beautiful special order Marlin that would easily be the center piece of any Marlin collection. One of the finest known and manufactured in 1906.
