OBFM. This gun comes very well documented with a Factory Letter from the Buffalo Bill Historical Society attesting to the fact that it is a smooth bore. Also correspondence with the Chicago Historical Society, a museum in Chicago where the gun was on loan with letters dating back to 1939. John Hand was the consignor of this gun to the Chicago Historical Society. His father built several special train cars for Cody including his private car. Cody bequeathed this gun to Mr. Hand. Provenance dates back to the Historical Society Museum Era. Very well documented with copies of the museum ledgers. The condition of the gun is generally near excellent with 60-70% original blue starting to tone somewhat, traces of brown starting to appear. Original plain grain walnut stocks have the usual mars, dings and gouges but still sound with no splits or cracks; rifle style buttplate. Mechanical condition is excellent, complete with Beaches front and tang sights. Ironic for a smooth bore to have target sights. Very interesting gun; guaranteed to be 100% correct.
