W2828 BEAUTIFUL WINCHESTER 1866 SADDLE RING CARBINE; Gun is in beautiful condition with a mint bore. Original sights. Barrel and mag tube retain a good amount of blue with slight thinning on the magazine tube. Wood is in very good condition with a carbine style buttplate. Receiver has turned a beautiful butterscotch color with sharp corners. No signs of abuse. Correct saddle ring. Action is crisp and tight. Good markings. On the side of the receiver is marked “L & W B C Co” which is a Railroad coming out of Pennsylvania. No other information is known on this Railroad. This is a later production carbine with the “44 Cal” on the barrel and on the elevator. Also has a “1873” marked ladder sight and the steel buttplate. Most of these generally look like “rats” but this is a fine gun. Factory Letter states it is a carbine received in the warehouse July 22,1886 and shipped May 5, 1887.
