W3869 VERY RARE ROUND TOP HENRY RIFLE; Gun is in the 14k serial range and being only 4 digits away from the highest serial number of Henry’s observed. I understand there are less than 20 of these manufactured. Winchester had been making Winchesters for a couple years by the time this gun was made. Interesting feature that I have not seen before is that on the front extension on the barrel there is a little notch off to the left hand side. When you move the follower all the way forward, in place of balancing on that screw there is a little notch. Makes a lot of sense and works pretty good. Gun is fitted for a sling swivel with the hole having been filled. The buttstock does not have any provision for a sling swivel. Barrel has turned a chocolate brown patina with sharp corners. Original sights consist of a blade front sight with sporting leaf rear sight. Very good bore. Receiver has turned a mustard color with just minor wear. Nice functioning action. Straight grip walnut stock with late style pointed heel trapdoor brass buttplate. Inside of buttplate is numbered 14308 that matches primary number on breach end of barrel. Wood has turned an aged darkened appearance with just a few marks and dents. Fit is very good. Sure to fill a hole in any Henry collection!
ANTIQUE $ 36,500.
