JM1550 MARLIN BALLARD No. 9 UNION HILL RIFLE CHAMBERED IN 38-55; The No. 9 Union Hill Rifles are nearly the same as the No.8 Union Hill rifles but made to conform to NRA competition rules with a single three pound trigger pull and weighing 9-3/4 pounds, effectively making them a plainer less costly version of the No. 6-1/2 Rigby. 30 inch part octagon barrel shows most of the original blue with some thinning, scattered light freckling and handling marks. Very good bore is fairly bright with strong rifling and shows scattered light pitting. Wind gauge globe front sight and a graduated vernier peep sight behind the hammer. Forged frame, breech block and large loop lever show a range of somewhat faded case hardening colors. Checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip butt stock show most all finish with some light handling marks and a small chip out of the top front left side forearm. Features a cheekrest and nickel plated cast iron Swiss buttplate.
