JM1551 MARLIN BALLARD PACIFIC No. 5 SINGLE SHOT RIFLE CHAMBERED IN 38-55; 30 inch medium weight octagon barrel shows 70% original blue thinning and starting to brown in places showing some scattered freckles and light handling marks. A very good bore that is bright with strong rifling showing a few very small areas of light pitting and other mild surface imperfections. Sights include a German silver blade in front and a sporting rear. Drop forged frame shows traces of the color case hardening pattern appearing a mottled gray. Good traces of case color on the hammer and lever. Walnut stocks show only light handling marks with the forearm having a solid repair to the right side and has “CY. COLE” stamped in bottom just ahead of the frame to match the “C C” stamped on the muzzle. Features double set triggers, a crescent rifle butt plate and a Hickory cleaning rod held in thimbles on the bottom of the barrel.
