MR1566 SHARPS NEW MODEL 1863 CARBINE; 22 inch round three-groove rifling barrel with a very good shiny bore with a few scattered spots of light roughness chambered in 50-70 caliber. Barrel has good amounts of original blue by the muzzle and the breech with the balance thinning and turning a plum/brown. Original sights but the rear is missing the slider. Frame has some case colors in the protected areas with the balance a smokey gray/brown patina. Markings are soft. Saddle ring bar has been removed with the hole in the frame filled with a screw. Walnut stocks are in fine condition and have a couple of dents in the right side of buttstock and light handling mars. Smooth action. A good example of a cartridge- converted Sharps carbine.
