Description

MR1704 GERMAN FULLSTOCK PERCUSSION JAEGER RIFLE BY CHRISTOPHER PAULI; 30 inch octagon barrel chambered in about a .38 caliber with a very good bore showing some fine roughness and strong rifling throughout. Barrel retains most of an older reapplied rust blue finish and is marked “CHRISTOPH PAULI IN MUNSTER” on the top flat inlaid in gold. Sights include a protected bead post front with the rear dovetail empty and an elaborate adjustable tang sight. Lockplate and dolphin head hammer are embellished with scrollwork and are a deep plum/brown patina. A small boar scene on the lockplate. Patchbox has a scene of a lion battling a snake. Triggerguard has a hunter as well as scrollwork on the upper and lower tangs. Wood is held on by triple wedge fasteners. Horn pistolgrip with fancy carved rear looks good and is complete. Checkered walnut stock is in fine condition showing a few light dents and dings with a left side cheekpiece. Original sling swivel hardware and a brass tipped steel ramrod. Double set triggers. Not a bad looking Jaeger Rifle.
