SSR5 FRANCOTTE MARTINI SINGLE SHOT GOLD INLAID PARADOX BORE RIFLE; This gun was manufactured by Holland & Holland. They had the exclusive rights to this patent until about 1900. A beautifully done gun with elaborate scroll engraving on one side of the frame. The other side has a large inlaid oval with gold figures of a hunter with dog and landscape. Very well done and surrounded by more scrollwork. Gun features a 30 inch octagon barrel in 16 bore. This is basically a smooth bore except for the last 4-5 inches which is a Paradox bore. Original sights include a bead front sight and flip up buckhorn rear sight. Matted rib Damascus pattern barrel. Nearly all of the pattern remains with just a few bad storage marks. Circassian Walnut stocks are in fine condition with sharp checkering. Trapdoor for a 5-piece cleaning rod that is present. The lever has the cross hatch style of engraving and retains much of the case harden color. Receiver and trigger guard have about 95% original blue remaining. This attractive gun with an unusual 16 bore Paradox configuration is great inside and out.
