W4208 SPECIAL ORDER WINCHESTER MODEL 92 SRC IN CALIBER 44-40; This very interesting 1892 is constructed with both carbine and rifle features. Several carbines in this configuration are known with serial numbers around this example. It is believed these were built for the movie industry, possibly part of a 100 gun order placed in 1927 for a Tim McCoy film. It features a 20 inch octagon barrel. Like other known examples, it bears both standard “WP” and oval “P” proofs. Excellent bright shiny bore. Sights include a German silver blade front and a semi-buckhorn rear. Overall metal retains most of it’s blue with some edge wear and flaking at the receiver. Full length magazine tube retained by a magazine tube band usually seen on rifles and small caliber carbines. Original saddle ring. Plain walnut stocks are in fine condition with a carbine butt. Crisp tight action. An unusual Model 92 that will surely fill a hole in your Winchester collection.
